BACKGROUND
Heritors Labs (HL) Limited, in strategic collaboration with the Research and Innovation Systems for Africa (RISA) Fund, spearheads initiatives to advance Ghana's Research, Development, and Innovation (R&DI) ecosystem to translate research outputs into marketable products and services. The end goal is to activate value chains and innovation markets.
CONTEXT AND OBJECTIVE OF ASSIGNMENT
Heritors Labs is at the forefront of fostering research and innovation commercialisation, leveraging strategic partnerships and effective communication to advance our mission. To ensure the success of this endeavour, we are seeking the expertise of a Project Communications and Partner Relations Specialist. This role is crucial for managing all aspects of our project communications and strengthening our partner relationships. The specialist will play a pivotal role in creating new partnerships, maintaining existing ones, and ensuring that our communication strategies effectively convey our objectives and achievements to a broad audience utilising various means including but not limited to traditional and digital media, publications, webinars and seminars, and direct stakeholder engagement.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DELIVERABLES
Communication Strategy Development:
Develop and implement a robust communication strategy that aligns with the goals of Heritors Labs and our partners.
Create and manage content for various communication channels, including press releases, newsletters, social media, and the Heritors Labs website.
Craft clear and compelling messages for different audiences, including stakeholders, clients, and team members.
Coordinate with project managers to ensure timely and accurate dissemination of project updates and information.
Media Relations:
Act as the primary contact for media inquiries and manage relationships with journalists and media outlets.
Organise and coordinate press conferences, media briefings, and other public relations events.
Partner Relations:
Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential partners, ensuring mutual goals and objectives are met.
Act as the primary point of contact for partners, addressing their needs and concerns promptly and effectively.
Develop and manage partnership agreements, ensuring all terms are clearly defined and adhered to.
Facilitate meetings and collaboration between Heritors Labs, RISA, the British Government, and other stakeholders.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Develop and disseminate informational materials to stakeholders, ensuring clear and consistent messaging.
Organise events, workshops, and seminars to engage stakeholders and promote project activities.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
Prepare and present regular reports on communication activities and partner engagement efforts.
Track and analyse the performance of communication and partnership initiatives.
Prepare regular reports on the status of projects, partner relations, and communication efforts.
Provide insights and recommendations on best practices for continuous improvement.
Requirements
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.
Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.

Ability to develop and implement effective communication and partnership strategies.
Strong analytical skills to evaluate the impact of communication efforts and adjust strategies accordingly.

Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.
Proficiency in managing media relations and public relations activities.
Experience in organizing and coordinating media events.
Qualification
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in communications, public relations, or a related field.
Proven experience in managing partnerships and stakeholder relations.
Experience working with international organisations or government institutions and agencies is an added advantage.
Proficiency in using communication and marketing tools, including social media platforms, content management systems, and analytics tools.
Strong knowledge of media landscape and public relations best practices.
Excellent command of English, both written and spoken. Additional languages are an asset.
